Women’s Major Singles Win!
Gina O’Reilly won the Women’s Major Singles this year on Sunday 13th June against Sharon Scarcella. What an amazing match! Both women were on 23 at the last end when Gina knocked Sharon’s 3 possible winning bowls away and took the jack up to her own. The excellent game was neck and neck and a wonderful spectator event. Well done to 1st & 2nd place in Singles Final 2021!
Great news! At the State Carnival Clovelly came 2nd in their division which was an amazing accomplishment! Well done teams! Carmel’s team had five wins and then lost one by two points. Gina’s team had four wins and two draws. The weather was perfect. Also, Clovelly WBC won the District 2 against Randwick and now are in the Zone final at Taren Point on Tuesday 13th July. All the women played with exceptional skills and a great game attitude which made the match thoroughly enjoyable. Sandra, Susie, Sue and Gina Clovelly and Randwick
Consistency Final won for a second time by Louise!
What a fantastic final we saw! It was neck and neck all the way through with both ladies: Louise Baldwin and Judith Staunton fighting it out shot for shot. Louise reached the magic 150 before Judith but the win was only about 10 point ahead! The two wonderful players showed the considerable crowd what can be achieved with practice, concentration and grit. No one will forget this match for a long time!
Champion of Champion Club Pairs
This event was held at Merrylands and Guildford bowling Club 4-5 March 2021 Carmel Sowden and Gina O’Reilly represented Clovelly Women’s Bowling Club at Guildford Bowling Club in this State Competition. Once the girls negotiated M1, M4 , James Ruse Drive and Parramatta Rd and every back street to get to Guildford the girls will find driving to Clovelly a pleasure. The format was sectional, with the winner of each section proceeding into the knock out rounds.Carmel and Gina played exceptional bowls against highly skilled players from Killara Belrose and Munmorah. Unfortunately Carmel and Gina did not go through to the knock out round. The experience gained from playing in state level competition is in valuable and both girls enjoyed the chance to play at this level.

Bendigo Cup Fantastic Final
Yesterday at Clovelly Bowling Club we were treated to one of the best Bendigo Cup Finals ever! Roderick James Roper and Scott "C U Jimmy" Irving battled it out for almost four hours to the delight of a transfixed crowd. Bowl by bowl, end by end, the two brilliant players fought with accuracy, strategy and sometimes magic until Scotty reached 31 points first. The Club audience and the passing crowd on the Coast Walk clapped and cheered in amazement as the two players fiercely focused on landing closest to the jack. The very fast and often blustery green changed it's character time and time again causing the men to reevaluate their line but nothing changed their determination to win. At the end of the day everyone was elated by what they had seen and no one could argue that both Scotty and Rick were the winners! (But actually Scotty won...) Well done Fitzy for marking. Many thanks to the organisers and especially to the wonderful Bendigo Bank for so generously sponsoring our Club again this year! Thanks friends!
